Meet William E. Clark
Bill is a professional in dispute resolution with a unique background and more than 30 years of legal/trial experience. He attended Eastern Michigan University where he majored in German. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1967, which was followed by a Master’s Degree in Education in 1969.
Immediately after completing his studies, Bill enrolled at the Detroit College of Law's (now Michigan State University™) night school program. He finished his four-year course in three and a half years. After graduation, he became associated with the staff counsel firm of the Travelers Insurance Company™. In 1978, he co-founded, Clark and Knight, A Professional Corporation.

Clark and Knight functioned as an active trial firm, handling major case litigation for 26 years. During that time, Bill represented both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, commercial, and general civil and domestic relations matters. In addition to the lower level district, circuit, and federal courts, he successfully represented clients in the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court of Appeals (published opinons). Bill was admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005. Bill has also served as a top-rated ICLE lecturer.
Mediator Experience
In June, 2002, Bill completed the SCAO (Supreme Court Administrators Office) training to become a general civil mediator. In February, 2006, he completed additional training as a domestic relations mediator. Since then, Bill has attended advanced mediation seminars sponsored by SCAO. He serves on the Alternative Dispute Resolution™ and ADR Admissions Committees for Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Antrim Counties. He is also a member of the Michigan Council for Family and Divorce Mediation.
Bill assisted Oakland County by serving as a mediator for its successful Civil Early Intervention Conference program. He also helped with the Community Reconciliation Service located in Traverse City. His education background and legal experience has helped him become a successful mediator
